This article is a case study of many who now lives in Colombia where, before the arrival of large mining concern in its transition to an extractive economy, populations are organizing, mobilizing and resisting to defend their territories, customs and agricultural production, in the case of Ciudad Bolivar Antioquia-Colombia where there has been a town Meeting, as a strategy to defend the territory and be given to start the operation of five mining contracts were awarded and there involving as holders the current mayor of Medellin Anibal Gaviria and his family company, affect a large area and could be in serious jeopardy much of the territory of the Farallones de Citará, territory that was declared by the environmental authority as a protected Area, and also is part of a major strategic: ecosystem Chocó.Â
