The seriousness of the damage caused in San Vicente del Caguán (the Colombian Amazon) shows the barbarity with which oil companies stalk and violate nature, and the timid way as State institutions respond, late and with meager sanctions. Likewise, and based on socio-territorial data, which give an account of the social conditions of the region, it is evident that this model of occupation is a development bet of an extensive and high impact nature, which for its deployment needs empty spaces.
