In Colombia there are various effects and violations towards political prisoners and their families due to their role as human rights defenders, and the events that they must go through throughout this process, which unleashes a series of changes in their lives that have repercussions on their lives emotional and social spheres, highlighting that violations of their rights are not recognized and therefore there is a tendency to normalize them, both by the people involved in the act, and by the institutions designed to ensure the welfare of these populations. The functions performed by the psychologist in prisons are limited by various barriers that are generated within these institutions, based on the aforementioned; the mental health needs of the inmates and their families are triggered, identifying special care with the prisoners political due to the high vulnerability of this population.
