This article is a review and critical analysis of different bibliographical sources from the Latin American and Caribbean Region; these sources were used for the elaboration of the state of the art, in the framework of the research project processes of transvestite subjectivation, to opt for the title of Master in Education and Human Rights of the Latin American Autonomous University (UNAULA). I intend to unveil the essentialist character of the body and identity by analyzing the discursive production raised by some of the authors on the processes of construction of subjectivities and trans corporealities. Now, while I problematize this essentialist look, I offer a series of theoretical and, if you will, practical elements about how the sex-gender system has been operating in our society and how, transvestite witches, in many occasions -even without intending it-, from the most everyday and "simple" actions we set fire to the belief system, to the norms and/or regulations that have been imposed in terms of body and sexuality. Hence, I feel the need to vindicate the social and political value of the transvestite category.
