The e construction of narratives of the past and hegemonic memories in Colombia that sustain the image of the absolute enemy, which is embodied by the guerrillas, but can be extended to any other stakeholder, which challenges the dominant order, gives rise to genocidal practices and
material and symbolic extermination. Theese narratives are widely shared by the Colombian population thanks to the media's capture of the story and the underlying reproduction of official discourses aligned with the interests of dominant sectors, which shapes social representations of history, collective emotional orientations, and collective memories, which, in turn, become psychosocial barriers to peace, as they prevent the understanding
of the web of causes, responsibilities, and stakeholders, which underlie the armed conflict and block social support for a negotiated solution to it.
